Wigwam Motel, San Bernardino California

Another one of the most iconic Route 66 images is the Wigwam Motel. Staying here was a true americana road trip experience! This was actually the last of seven of these teepee inspired motels, built in 1949 by visionary Frank Redford. This one is the most noteworthy though as it was the inspiration for the Cozy Cone Motel in Disney-Pixar's "Cars" movie. The motel’s 19 concrete teepees, arranged in two jaunty semicircles, are 32 feet tall and 20 feet wide, painted with a zigzag of red that screams “photo op".
