A survivor from the advertising campaign started in 1935 by Rock City founder Garnet Carter, using barn roof paintings to attract travelers to his Lookout Mountain attraction in Chattanooga. A young sign painter named Clark Byers traveled the highways in 19 states offering to paint farmers' barns for free in exchange for putting the ads on the roofs. By 1969 he had painted around 900 barns and it is estimated that only about 60 remain. This barn has a Ruby Falls sign on one side and on the other you'll find this sign which reads "Millions Have Seen Rock City Have You?". You can see it through the trees on the north side of Interstate 40. The barn sits on Buttermilk Road west of Lenoir City, TN
