Oasis Motel, San Bernardino California

The Oasis Motel stands as a weathered monument to a bygone era of road trips, rebellion, and retro charm with an interesting boundary-breaking legacy. It's the place where Virginia Arness, once married to Gunsmoke star James Arness, traded Hollywood glitz for a gritty, multicultural mission in the late 1960's. It was an inter-racial motel in a time where that wasn't often the case. While still photo worthy, the sign was much more intriguing when it had a turban clad gentleman on top.
