The bridge connects Illinois and Missouri across the Mississippi River. It is unique in the fact that it has a 22 degree bend in the middle of the crossing. Built in 1929, the bridge carried Route 66 traffic from 1936 - 1968. It was closed to vehicle traffic in 1970. Now pedestrians and cyclist can cross the bridge. Sadly, it was closed the day I was there due to recent flooding in the area. The old bridge is just to the south of the new Chain of Rocks Bridge on I-270 in St Louis, MO
