The Calico Ghost Town Giant Miner sign is impossible to miss. It’s got the kind of charm that only comes with age. Faded but proud, it points visitors toward the town of Calico and it's original silver mines. It was painted in the 1950s, when Walter Knott (yes, the Knott’s Berry Farm guy) bought and restored Calico to preserve it's ghost-town glory. In a world of slick digital billboards, there’s something refreshing about a sign that’s content to be itself: a little rough and a little cheeky, with a whole lot of character. Tip your hat to the miner as you drive by on Ghost Town Road in Yermo, CA
