This 18-foot-tall, five-ton tribute to the pioneer women who traded bonnets for bravery and helped tame the American West was dedicated on February 1, 1929. It's a testament to the grit of the women who hauled kids, rifles, and dreams across the continent. Part of a series of 12 identical monuments along the National Old Trails Road, she’s weathered windstorms in 1957 and 1972, and a 5.2-magnitude earthquake in 1991 that gave her such a shake that significant repairs had to be made. You can see this sassy, stone-cold symbol of the women who made the West wild and wonderful on Foothill Boulevard in Upland, CA
