In my travels on the back roads doing genealogy research, I’ve seen hundreds of remnants of times gone by. These iconic symbols of "Americana" inspired me to create this blog. By documenting them, I'll remember and maybe you'll find something interesting to hunt down next time you are in one of these areas!
You can use the search feature in the blog to look for specific cities or states. Enjoy!

The Museum Club, Flagstaff Arizona
I liked the look of this sign, but I wish I would have gotten a photo of the building too. It is a log cabin with a very unique entrance through a giant forked tree stump. It was built in 1931 as the Dean Eldredge Museum and Taxidermist. Dean opened it to show his taxidermy pieces. In 1936, after he died, it became a nightclub and then later a country music venue, in the 1960's. You can see the sign and log cabin building on East Route 66 in Flagstaff, AZ
